After 3 Years of Heavy Use, Amazon RDS Blue/Green Deployments Just Got Even Better (Sub-5-Second Switchovers!)

Sharing my real-world experience with RDS Blue/Green Deployments since 2023, and why the January 2026 update (sub-5-second downtime) is a big win for production workloads. Amazon RDS just leveled up again with the latest enhancement to Blue/Green Deployments, announced on January 20, 2026.
